The prosperity in the human world was gone. Now the ruins rule the planet. Having achieved amazing technological and genetic advances, nothing seemed to stand in the way of humans progress… But they missed something. A virus almost extinguished the human race, and only a generation of children managed to survive. Then, a new era began in which the few remaining children live hidden as shadows on planet Earth.

Nara is one of those children, and so far, she has managed to live isolated from danger, protected by an ancient robot that belonged to her family. But everything will change after the visit of a strange traveler. Nara, unknowingly, will enter into an adventure where humanity’s fate will depend of her, at a time when humans are no longer the dominant specie on the planet.

HOW THE PROJECT CAME UP, by Luis Quiles.

"At the beginning of 2020 I remember while preparing for THE LOST BOYS crowdfunding campaign, I thought that maybe it was a bit old-fashioned this kind of dystopian story about a virus that exterminates the majority of the people on Earth. I remembered these thoughts when a global pandemic arrived just a few weeks later. The rest of the story you already know. Usually, the real-life is weirder than fiction and slaps you in the face. The pandemic was also the reason that the crowdfunding campaign was postponed to almost a year later. Now.

It has been almost 20 years since I started working on this comic book. Back in 2003, I signed with a French publisher to make a series of comics in four books. In 2004 and 2005 respectively the first two books were published entitled: ‘Rebelcat, les enfants perdus’, and ‘Rebelcat, crucified mes enemies’.

When I started working on the third volume, the series entered into some kind of publishing limbo. It was like that for many years without knowing what to do to complete the story. Not long ago I regained the rights to publish that story, so I began to seriously consider completing and finishing it. I was close to publishing the story like it was, not completed, but I’m happy I found Spaceman Project to give me the opportunity to complete the saga as it was originally in my mind (without any narrative or content limitations) and in an integral version over than 200 pages.

THE LOST BOYS is a post-apocalyptic science fiction story that transits through many other genres such as adventure, drama, fantasy, western, chanbara, slasher… I can’t find a better (and more strange) way to define this work other than it is an impossible mix between Hayao Miyazaki’s early movies and A Serbian film. The last part of the story is one of the wildest and creepiest things that I ever made in my life making drawings (not recommended for all people, but best for adults only). At some point, I almost doubted if it was a good idea to include that part in the final scenes.

So, as a final tip, if the book becomes a reality and you get it in your hands, I ask you read the book without looking at the final part so that you can enjoy all the surprises while avoiding the big spoilers.

This story and all the characters have been with me for almost half of my life. After this long and strange journey, the opportunity finally comes to see it published with the completed 4 volumes together.

The book is fully drawn and finished, only the translation and all the publisher design phase is missing. Thanks to this, the delivery of the book will be done in 6 months, so if we reached the goal, it will be a short time to wait to have it ready for shipment.

Having said all this, I hope you will support this campaign, so you will have my first comic book in your hands very soon."
